More than 10,000 people have travelled on the Dartmoor Line in the first two weeks since its reopening. The line reopened for regular year-round, all-week passenger services on Saturday 20 November and demand for the trains linking Okehampton and Exeter has continued to remain high. The Dartmoor Line has been recognised with a national award in the same week that weekend trains began running direct to and from Exeter Central.At the national Community Rail Awards, held in Southampton on Thursday 9th December, the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership, GWR and Network Rail won the ‘Best Communications’ category for their work to inform people about the reopening of the Okehampton-Exeter line and to involve the community.Judges More ➔ “Dartmoor Line wins national award”
Two great pieces of news – both beginning this Sunday (12th December): Weekend trains direct to Exeter Central Starting this Sunday, most trains on the Dartmoor Line will now call at both Exeter Central and Exeter St David’s seven days a week. With regular services successfully returned to Okehampton, focus has now turned to upgrading the station building ready for the summer 2022 season. We recognise the role the station building had in bringing together the local community which is why we are excited to be transforming it into an asset that once complete will benefit both local and tourist groups.
